STADT LAND ICH

Community Installation / Exhibition

To develop an installation that reflects the ambivalent collective and subjective concept of ‘home’, as well as underpinned power structures and identity politics, I employed a combination of qualitative and discourse-analytical research methods. Using the results of social media polls, personal interviews, and observative walks, I created 100 foils with statements, words, photos, and emojis. As the relation of the city to the car producer Opel became omnipresent, I decided to use abstractions of a motor of the Opel Kadett, the company’s most successful model, to symbolise the common ground and the city’s most precious and recited past. These abstractions were realised as prints on plexiglas.
